Position Title: Assistant Professor of Theology and Religious Studies
Department: Theology and Religious Studies
Reports To: Dean of the Undergraduate College
Work Hours: 35 hours
Status: Full-Time

SUMMARY
Rosemont College invites applications for a Full-Time, tenure-track faculty position in Theology and Religious Studies beginning Fall of 2024. Responsibilities for the position include undergraduate-level instruction of coursework within the Wants of the Age Core Curriculum and with Theology and Religious Studies Faculty members. The faculty member should be student centered and have experience teaching courses at the undergraduate level. The position also works collaboratively with the College Mission and Ministry Office on a number of initiatives, including the Ethel Levenson Fund for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Programming on campus. Following the Boyer Model, faculty are expected to teach a 4/4 load while contributing service to the community and engaging in ongoing scholarship.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*
Teaching undergraduate courses in the Wants of the Age Core Curriculum
Advising majors and minors in Theology and Religious Studies
Serving on elected committees and voluntary committees
Being active in service to the community, particularly in Catholic Campus Ministry and Interfaith endeavors
Engaging in scholarship

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent student centered and customer service aptitude.
Excellent writing skills for higher education communications.
Excellent oral communication skills; ability to comfortably speak to large groups.
Ability to assist in the development of recruitment and marketing efforts.
In depth understanding of Catholicism and the mission of Rosemont College.
Ability to take part in Interfaith campus initiatives.
Accepts the need for ongoing program evaluation and continuous quality improvements.
Approaches work form a problem-solving mode.
Creative problem-solving skills.
Strong character representation of the College.
Proficiency with Canvas LMS.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
A terminal degree in Theology or Religious Studies (Ph.D., Th.D., S.T.D., etc.)
Five years' experience teaching and advising undergraduate students
Ability to teach a variety of Core Curriculum courses, which currently include Catholic Intellectual Tradition, Catholic Social Justice Tradition, Church in the Modern World, Meaning of Christ, Black Catholics and the Church, World Religions, Religion in America, Understanding Sacred Texts, Humanity's Search for Meaning, and The Holocaust.
Ability to teach upper-level courses: Women in Religion and Theology and Creation is strongly desired.
