Responsibilities:

DePaul University is located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant Loop and Lincoln Park communities. In 2023, the School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) was ranked 14th in Hollywood Reporter's annual list of the top film schools in the country and has been named by Variety as one of the top film schools in the world.

In SCA, there are currently over 2,000 students enrolled in the BA, BFA, BS, MS and MFA degree programs. The MFA degrees are in Film and Television Directing, Screenwriting, Creative Producing, Documentary and Animation. Production resources include six full sound stages at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, two green screen stages, production studios for motion capture, television, sound, industry standard camera packages, and a 4k digital cinema theater.

The DePaul School of Cinematic Arts is accepting applications for a tenure-eligible position as Assistant Professor of Post-Production Finishing, set to commence in September 2024. We seek an ideal candidate with a comprehensive understanding and the ability to instruct students in diverse workflows and concepts within Post-Production Cinema. We are specifically interested in individuals dedicated to both teaching and service.

Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate Post-Production courses for film and television, serving on school and college level committees, supervising student projects. Continued professional development and creative scholarship in the field is also expected.

Required Qualifications:

We strongly encourage applications from candidates possessing not only a detailed knowledge of Post-Production Finishing but also expertise in cinematic distribution, film festival preparation and programming, as well as independent filmmaking, broadcasting and presentation.

The candidate will be able to teach theoretical and practical hands-on courses, will have industry and/or academic experience, and are motivated to work with faculty and students on building the curriculum, leading school-wide initiatives, and/or participating on collaborative projects. We are actively seeking candidates with cultural diversity competency skills that enhance the experience of traditionally underrepresented populations and cultivate a more inclusive climate for our students, staff, faculty, and the broader community of which DePaul is an integral part.

The candidate will have a demonstrated record or potential for excellence in teaching and creative work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent industry experience in film and/or television

  • Record of professional practice and/or creative activity in Post-Production Finishing

  • Exemplary communication and collaboration skills

  • Able to demonstrate cultural competencies in diverse learning communities
