The Department of Engineering Technology at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina invites applications or nominations for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology program. This is a 4-year degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET Responsibilities.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

Some of the courses the successful candidate will be expected to teach include but are not limited to Design of Machine Elements, Applied Thermodynamics, Basic CAD, Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Materials, Microcomputer Applications, Rapid Prototyping, Manufacturing Processes, and Automation, Traditional Machine Tools as well as CNC Machine Tools, Fluid Mechanics, Senior Project Proposal as well as Capstone Senior Project Course and more. Other duties include Student advisement, committee assignment, performing research, and other scholarly activities through solicitation of externally funded grants in support of the mission of the University.

Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position:

B.S. and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related area is required

Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:

Ph.D. preferred. Three years of relevant industrial experience obtained preferably in a U.S. firm.

Candidate must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English. Knowledge of ETAC of the ABET accreditation process is a plus.
