The University of Denver is a medium-size (12,000 students) private university located in a thriving metropolis at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry BA, BS, MS, and PhD research programs focus on biochemistry/biophysics, organic synthesis, and environmental analytical chemistry.

Position Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in organic chemistry beginning September 2019.

Essential Functions

The candidate is expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program. Teaching expectations include undergraduate and graduate courses with a focus in organic chemistry.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or a related area

  • Postdoctoral experience

  • Demonstrated potential for leadership in their field, including a record of high-impact research accomplishments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research interests in applications of organic chemistry, such as bioorganic, polymers, sensing, or the environment.

  • We are especially interested in applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to or experience incorporating inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.

Located in the city of Denver, DU is the oldest and largest independent university in the Rocky Mountain Region with high research activity and enrolls approximately 11,500 students in its undergraduate, graduate, and professional preparation programs. Denver is quickly becoming one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the U.S. Census data show that Denver's population includes 11.1% Black or African American, 31.7% Hispanic or Latino, 2.8% Asian American, and approximately 1% Native American residents. Situated in this vibrant metropolitan community, the University is committed to building and sustaining a culturally diverse faculty, staff, and student body. The Department of Counseling Psychology's philosophy and mission are aligned with the MCE vision to train global leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to advance learning throughout the lifespan, educational change, and social equity. The PhD program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and the Clinical Mental Health Concentration of the MA program is accredited by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council. The School Counseling MA program has been developed to align with CACREP accreditation standards and we will pursue accreditation in the future. Position Summary We seek candidates with a proven record of excellence in clinical work, supervision, teaching, as well as individuals who value our mission of serving the public good and inclusive excellence. The Clinical Assistant Professors in School Counseling will require innovative and critical thinkers who are capable of working within a dynamic environment. This position will be primarily focused on teaching online classes in the School Counseling MA program. Specific responsibilities include: developing and designing courses for the new online master's program in school counseling, teaching online courses in school counseling, and teaching face-to-face courses in counseling psychology as needed. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This appointment will be for two years with the potential for renewal. This position will commence on July 1, 2019 or a negotiated start date. Required Qualifications * Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision or related field by July 1, 2019. * Prior experience in teaching, research, and leadership. * Demonstrated strong commitment to and experience working with diverse populations. * Evidence of scholarship commensurate with clinical faculty expectations. Preferred Qualifications * Online teaching experience at the graduate level. * Doctorate from a CACREP accredited program OR doctorate from a non-CACREP program and at least one year of counselor education experience prior to 2013 in a CACREP accredited program. * Experience as a School Counselor. * Knowledge of the CACREP accreditation process.
