Glenville State University invites applicants for a faculty position within the Department of Land Resources. The successful applicant will deliver course instruction and advise students within the Associate Degree in Land Surveying and the Baccalaureate Degree Land Surveying and Mapping programs.

Individuals holding a Master of Science (M.S.) degree are eligible for appointment into a tenure-track position and individuals with a Bachelors (B.S.) degree in land surveying are eligible for appointment to a lecturer position.  Particularly qualified individuals with an Associates (A.S.) degree in Land Surveying and licensure as a professional surveyor may be considered for appointment as a lecturer.  This is a full-time 9-month position.

  • Provide instruction for 12 (tenure-track assistant professor) or 15 hours (lecturer) of land surveying courses per semester.

  • Engage in the continuous assessment and enhancement of the curriculum of the land surveying degree programs.

  • Design and facilitate professional development initiatives catering to professional surveyors in West Virginia.

  • Actively contribute to student recruitment efforts.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, government entities, and professional associations to support workforce development.

  • Engage with professional organizations such as the West Virginia Society of Professional Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors to further the program's reach and efficacy.

  • Participate in grant writing efforts to secure funding for departmental initiatives as necessary.

  • Provide support and oversight for the department's computer laboratory.

  • A Master of Science (M.S.) degree is preferred and eligible for a tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor; however, candidates possessing licensure as a professional surveyor with a minimum of an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Land Surveying and/or a Land Surveying related bachelor's degree (B.S.) will be considered for appointment as lecturer.

  • Professional experience in the field of land surveying.

  • Previous instructional experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
