Posted 2 weeks ago

The Department of Business at Glenville State University is seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals to join our team.  Due to continued growth and expansion within the department degree programs and the addition of the MBA, we currently have three open faculty positions.  The Department of Business is currently a candidate for ACBSP national accreditation, with an anticipated site visit in Fall 2024.

One of these positions specifically requires expertise in accounting, requiring current licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a master's degree or higher in the field.

The two additional open positions require a terminal degree in a business-related field aligned with current programs (Accounting, Integrated Marketing, Management, and Sport Management) offered at Glenville State University.

Individuals holding the terminal degree (e.g., PhD, DBA) are eligible to appointment into tenure-track lines; individuals whose highest degree is the masters are eligible to appointment into the lecturer series, in which promotion but not tenure may be earned.   For tenure and promotion purposes, the Department of Business defines scholarship following the Boyers model.

  • Teach 12 (tenure-track) or 15 (lecturer) credit hours per semester, to include a range of undergraduate and/or graduate courses according to departmental needs.

  • Advise and mentor students, guiding them through their academic journey.

  • Actively participate in meetings and committees as indicated by scholarly interests and departmental needs.

  • Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum development, program assessment, and other academic initiatives.

  • Participate in conferences and professional organizations as appropriate for their academic discipline.

  • Master's degree within the appropriate fields required, with preference given to those with terminal degrees.  ABD candidates will be considered, with conversion to tenure track at completion of in-progress business-related terminal degree.

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas within the Department of Business (Accounting, Integrated Marketing, Management, or Sports Management).

  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and demonstrated commitment to student success.

  • Ability to contribute to the development and delivery of in-person, online, and hybrid courses.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent collaboration and mentorship skills.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in teaching, research, and service.

Applications must submit all materials below at https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/glenvilleedu:

  • Curricular Vitae with a detailed record of academic and professional experience.

  • Cover letter outlining their qualifications and interest in the position

  • Statement of teaching philosophy, including evidence of teaching effectiveness.
