The College of Creative Arts at West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Voice in the School of Theatre and Dance . This position is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Teach classes in the BFA undergraduate and MFA graduate acting programs with a primary emphasis in voice and speech for the theatre. Serve as a vocal coach for the School's Main Stage production season, with possible opportunities to direct.

Participation in developing curriculum, attracting students to the program, advising, assisting students in audition preparation, and professional development are required. Participation in university and school committee activities and faculty governance is expected of all faculty members.

DEADLINE: Applications will start to be reviewed on December 20, 2019.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must hold an MFA in Theatre/Acting and have taught at least 2 years at the college/university level.

Candidates must have a proven record of professional work as a vocal coach and significant specialized training in a vocal technique such as Fitzmaurice, Linklater, or Lessac, and be able to teach IPA and dialects. Professional credits as an actor or director are highly desirable as is an affiliation with AEA or SAG-AFTRA, or with an international professional equivalent. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a dedication to teaching, and enjoy working collaboratively and collegially in a fast-paced educational environment.
