The Dean R. Sanders '47 School of Business is looking for a dynamic, student-centered, innovative educator to join the Sport Management faculty in September 2024 or January 2025. Dean College invites applications for the position of Sport Management faculty, a full-time position. We envision the rank to be at the Assistant Professor level.

Dean College offers bachelor's degrees in Athletic Coaching, Recreation Management, and Sport Management, and associate degrees in Athletic Coaching and Recreation Management and Sport Management. Students learn proven business principles and organizational management strategies while immersing themselves in the science and social impact of sport. Our program combines a solid academic foundation with activity-based classes and real-world experience.

Job Summary:

The Sanders' School of Business seeks an accomplished educator with experience teaching sport management and business courses who focuses on experiential learning and active engagement in their classroom. This person will share their professional and practical experience as they teach undergraduate students in the areas of athletic coaching, recreation management, sport management, sport analytics, sport finance, sport law, sport ethics, sport sales, and others. This person will also collaborate with colleagues from other academic areas and professionals from various organizations to provide outstanding learning experiences that prepare students to lead and succeed.

Position Details:

• 10-month, full-time, annually renewable position.

• Teach 5:5 teaching load; (note: there is no faculty advising load. Students are served by a professional advising staff).

• Hold office hours as required and meet with students by appointment.

• Coach and mentor students regarding academic and career goals including graduate school preparation.

• Participate in committees as assigned, attend school and program meetings.

• Participate in recruitment activities and student orientations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Doctorate degree in sport management, business, or a related field is required; ABDs will be considered;

• Expertise in Sport Analytics and Data Analytics is required. Sport Marketing, Venue Management, or Recreation Management is preferred;

• Undergraduate teaching experience, including leading students in class projects and practical applications, is required;

• Graduate teaching experience is preferred, Desire to be MBA and/or Graduate Program Coordinator preferred

• Demonstrated success teaching a culturally diverse population of undergraduates with a variety of learning styles at varying stages of academic readiness;

• Experience with course management systems (i.e. Canvas), digital technology, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Teams, Word, PowerPoint), and classroom media such as smart boards is desired
