The University of Mount Union seeks a full time core Physical Therapy faculty with a strong academic background and demonstrated skill in both didactic and clinical teaching. This is a 12-month appointment.

Candidates should have both an entry level degree in Physical Therapy (PT, BS; MPT,or a DPT) and an academic doctorate in a Health Science related field (e.g. PhD, EdD, ScD);. Candidates should be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Ohio and have no less that 3 years of contemporary clinical practice/experience.

Responsibilities

A DPT faculty member have evidence of exceptional higher education teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: acute care, differential diagnosis, cardiopulmonary, pediatrics, or pelvic health. Demonstrated skills in advising, test writing, assessment, curriculum development, student retention, and mentoring are highly desired.

A research agenda or research background is required and should accompany application. Faculty with demonstrated interest in pedagogy such as problem-based learning, elective topics, APTA recognized clinical specialization, gait, balance, and motor function are particularly encouraged to apply. Those with technical expertise in diagnostic ultrasound and/or motor analysis will be welcomed.

Our program has access to a shared motor analysis lab (utilizing Vicon Motion System), which offers research opportunities and potential collaborations with engineering and exercise science. Our new Pro Bono initiative, part of a community commons, is set to expand. With interprofessional interactions with Stark State PTA program, NEOMED IPE network, and our own OT program collaborative avenues abound.

Qualifications

The University of Mount Union Department of Physical Therapy strongly emphasizes hybrid learning, as well as person centric and disability studies awareness. Bio-psycho-social skills, advocacy, and an ethic of caring, including perspectives characterized by the ICF framework/model are also strongly emphasized.
