Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Technology in the Department of Music, beginning in academic year 2024-2025. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses on music technology software for music majors, minors, and undergraduate general education students. Departmental and University expectations of the successful candidate include the following: ongoing evidence of quality teaching and successful recruiting endeavors; demonstrated research and creative activity through regional and national performances, presentations, recordings and/or publications; participation in academic governance and service at both the departmental and university levels as appropriate.

Position Profile

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D., DMA, or terminal degree in Music Technology, Music Composition, or related discipline (ABD candidates will be considered if they provide evidence of anticipated completion of degree by May 31, 2025)
  • Experience teaching music technology in a school or college setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching a variety of music technology software applications

  • Experience managing and overseeing a multi-station Macintosh music computer lab

  • Experience teaching in a multi-station lab class on a variety of digital audio workstations (DAW)

  • Experience teaching Max/MSP at the college level

  • Ability to also teach in one or more of the following areas: orchestration, class piano, electronic ensemble direction, electronic music composition, private lesson/s at University level

Compensation and Employee Benefits

In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2023-2024.
