SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsibilities include directing choral activities, the BSC Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, choral conducting, assisting with the spring musical, preparing music for BSC events, recruiting students for performance ensembles and music major/minor emphasis. Potential responsibilities could include teaching Aural Skills I-IV, Applied Voice, Music Appreciation, coordinating Annual BSC Choir Festival, facilitating state and regional music festivals, or other areas of expertise or interest. Responsibilities include student advising, committee work, and other duties as assigned by Department Chair and/or the Dean of Humanities, Arts & Sciences.
Master's degree in choral conducting.
Documented successful experience teaching choral music.
Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and ability to work as a team member.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to articulate and support the community college philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a community college setting.
Good working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, email & electronic calendar - Outlook).
Creative in using a variety of teaching resources, media and instructional technologies.
Earned doctorate (PhD or DMA).
Experience with distance delivery of courses.
Documented successful teaching experience.
Experience with musical theater.
