Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program is looking for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the broader field of mechanical engineering, such as Advanced Manufacturing, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and dynamics, and control, etc. This role involves impactful teaching, scholarly research, collaboration, advising, and contributing to departmental initiatives within a dynamic academic environment. The position will be available beginning in the Spring semester of 2024 or fall semester of 2024.

Job Responsibility

  • Teaching: Teach and develop a variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering technology courses in both lecture and laboratory settings (up to 12 credits). The candidate would be responsible for all aspects of courses along with laboratory set-up to grading, and assessment.

  • Research: Establish and sustain a robust scholarly research program, actively seeking external funding and maintaining a consistent record of relevant field publications.

  • Service: Provide student advising, contribute to ETAC-ABET assessment, and actively participate in departmental activities, committees, and university service.

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned

Salary: $80,500 - $85,500

The above salary structure may vary depending on experience.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. in doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited institution.

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related field from an accredited institution.

  • College or University-level teaching experience in a related field, either in-person and online

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or over three years of industry experience.

  • Demonstrated ability or potential to effectively engage with a diverse student population.

  • Hands-on experience in research or lab settings.

  • Post-doctoral experience within the USA.

  • Track record of securing grant funding or potential to obtain external funding from state, federal, and private entities.

  • Previous involvement with ABET accreditation processes.
