The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Southwestern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Mathematics beginning August 2024 or January 2025. This is a ten-month, non-tenure-track staff position with faculty rank.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, with degree completion expected by August 2025.

Southwestern seeks a dedicated teacher with demonstrated excellence in teaching, particularly in supporting students in their preparation for calculus, by developing and teaching a 'Modern Quantitative Methods' course designed to lead to student success in calculus. Typical teaching responsibilities include six courses per academic year; most years this will be exclusively Modern Quantitative Methods and the existing Modern Calculus 1 course.

The position will also support student selection of appropriate math courses, including overseeing systems used to do so and providing guidance to academic advisors. In addition, this position requires some committee service, engagement in academic advising and retention initiatives, and a dedication to equity and inclusiveness.
