Title: Assistant Professor of Health Sciences, 12-Month

Job Summary

This is a 12-month faculty, term contract position.  This faculty position includes serving as Department Chair of Health Sciences.

This position will be responsible for teaching and coordinating courses within the Health Sciences AAS Degree Program, the Healthcare Technician, Patient Care Technician, and Medical Coding Certificate Programs. Other duties include coordinating student clinical placement requirements, managing clinical affiliations, certification testing, equipment and supply management, and recruiting and evaluating adjuncts. This position will provide advisement to students and participate in college committees and campus activities.

 Teaching assignments may include online and/or distance classes, evening classes, dual-enrollment, and off-campus locations. Position includes teaching with release time and additional stipend for chair duties.

Job Duties

  • 60% - Lead, supervise, manage, and implement all aspects of the Health Sciences program, including course/curriculum development and instruction, recruitment and advising of students; program marketing and budgeting; adjunct faculty recruitment, supervision and support; coordinate national certification exams; evaluate student outcomes in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments; maintain documentation for program operations and accreditation purposes; and assist in the recruitment, orientation, and evaluation of new students.  - (Essential)
  • 30% -Contribute positively to team/committee work and college-wide initiatives; comply with College and TBR policies and guidelines; complete all required trainings and reports by the required deadlines; conduct programmatic bi-annual Advisory Committee meetings, network with community stakeholders, develop and manage class schedules for program course offerings; participate in academic, and career advising and placement of program students - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Healthcare-related certifications. Collegiate-level teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's Degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution. Prior experience managing student and clinical placements, and supervising faculty and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional modalities. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with regional faculty, staff, and student populations. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $56,227 - $67,472 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
