POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Biology
REPORTS TO: Math & Science Division Chair
POSITION SUMMARY: The Division of Science and Mathematics at Eureka College invites applications for a full-time position in Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting as early as January 2025 (depending on applicant availability, an August 2025 start date is also possible). The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours each semester (24 credits annually) along with assisting in advising students majoring in biology, clinical lab science, and pre-professional tracks and occasionally mentoring senior thesis projects as part of the college's Honors Program. The Biology faculty may be required to participate in the college's interdisciplinary programs including first year seminar or 10 Essentials (general education) science courses at Eureka College. This position has the potential to be offered as a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor position (with the potential for becoming tenure-track) if degree qualifications and/or preferred experience are not met at day one.

EDUCATION
Essential:
PhD in Biology or related field or ABD with the requirements for the PhD completed by the appointment time of August 1, 2024.
MS applications will also be considered for a Visiting Assistant Professor, 1-year appointment.
Desirable: Previous teaching in higher education

WORK SCHEDULE: Normal academic schedules include classes and labs offered during normal work hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00pm. Flexibility in the work schedule is required to accommodate occasional evening and weekend hours, including attendance in December and May Commencements.
