Job Description:

About the Cummings School of Architecture

The Cummings School was re-dedicated in 2022 following a major gift to the university from the Cummings Foundation. We are a community dedicated to excellence in Architecture, Art + Architectural History, Preservation Practices; Real Estate and Urban and Regional Planning.

Undergraduate degree programs and minors are offered in the first two areas, and we deliver minors in Architecture, Art + Architectural History, Preservation Studies, and Urban Studies. Graduate programs include the Master of Architecture (NAAB Accredited), MS in Preservation Practices, and MS in Real Estate. Graduate Certificates are available for internal and external entry students in Preservation Practices, Real Estate and in Urban and Regional Planning.

Dual graduate degrees are available among the graduate degree programs, and also an MS in Preservation Practices + JD from the School of Law. Each year Summer Programs include the pre-college Summer Academy in Architecture, and 1st through 5th year coursework. Faculty and coursework from the school contribute to the General Education program in several areas.

Full-time faculty distinguish our community, coursework and events through strong collegiality, interdisciplinary connections within and beyond the school, and commitment to diversity. Faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarship and practice, and in regional service. A strong and collegial academic and studio culture has developed among students over many years.

Several special study opportunities distinguish the school. Semester-long study abroad is offered each semester in Barcelona and Florence, with faculty led-programs offered in Winter.

A foundation-sponsored Collaborative Revitalization+ Teaching Practice initiative has been launched in recent years engaging the school, practitioners and external organizations. Student internships are supported by a unique Career Investment Program that received a 2018 ACSA / AIA Practice + Leadership Award. We are committed to advancing the professions and serving the community through numerous collaborations locally and nationally between faculty, institutions and organizations, and communities.

The School's integrative philosophy should allow successful candidates to integrate their particular areas of interest across the curriculum, and to develop significant scholarly, creative and professional work. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
