QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in English (or related field) by September 1, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Louisiana Tech's School of Literature and Languages welcomes applicants in pre-1900 American literature.

The candidate's specialization is open but may include areas such as colonial/early American literature, African American literature, Native American literature, Latin American literature, hemispheric or transnational American literature, or American poetry. Secondary interests may include areas such as literary theory, film and media studies, the digital humanities, or gender and cultural studies. Interest in teaching comparative literature and/or interdisciplinary courses with other members of the College of Liberal Arts is also welcome.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic unit that values teaching as well as research, and whose curriculum for English majors has recently been revised to encourage dynamic and diverse approaches to the study of literature.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization as well as surveys in American and, potentially, world literature.

The normal teaching load is three courses per quarter. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, innovative scholarship, and collegiality are expected.

THE UNIVERSITY: Louisiana Tech is a selective admissions university and offers a broad range of fully accredited undergraduate degrees in a variety of majors and doctoral programs in areas of specified expertise.

The School of Literature and Languages awards Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Modern Languages, a Master of Arts in English, and a Graduate Certificate in Technical Communication. The campus is located in Ruston, Louisiana, 70 miles east of Shreveport and 30 miles west of Monroe on Interstate 20. The geographical location of Ruston makes it an important trade and medical center for an area of over 100,000 people.
