Assistant Professor (Nontenure Track)

The School of Education (SOE) invites applications for a full-time, nontenure track Assistant Professor position for master's programs at Baker University's Overland Park campus. This position serves as the leader of the SOE master's programs including Master of Science in School Leadership (MSSL), Master of Arts in Education (MAEd), Master of Science in Special Education programs as well as nondegree programs: Building-Level Licensure Only (BLLO) and Limited Apprentice License (LAL). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teach 12 credits (4, 3 credit hour courses) over the course of the fiscal year. Release time will be determined by the dean to complete other job duties listed below. This position is encouraged to maintain his or her own professional development both within discipline area and in higher education.

• Assists in the coordination of directed field experience (DFE) and practicum experiences as needed, which includes placing students and assigning supervisors. Trains DFE mentors and supervisors, as needed, assists in securing placement, if applicable, facilitates DFE meetings, and evaluates completed portfolios.

• Serves as a faculty member for SOE graduate programs, assists in curriculum review and development including program and course reviews, program and course creation, working with the faculty service team in implementing innovative pedagogical approaches.

Job Requirements

The successful applicant must have a master's degree in education (doctoral degree preferred), experience as a K-12 educator with a strong record of teaching and/or administrative experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and administration.
