Tenure Track Faculty Announcement:

The School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Television and New Media studies, beginning Fall 2019. We are searching for a scholar with a demonstrated record of excellence in television studies, digital media, transnational and global media flows, or the production and consumption of modes of extended reality (AR, VR, MR) from a critical, cultural studies or digital humanities perspective to join LMU's growing Film, Television, and Media Studies Department (FTVS).

Preference will be given to candidates already holding a Ph.D. at the time of application. A minimum of two years teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is required. The ideal candidate will contribute to FTVS' curriculum by teaching our required introductory, survey-style courses on the history and theory of the television and new media industries, in addition to developing courses in their area of expertise.

The individual's preferred professional background would be in media planning, marketing or post-production. This position will require strong communication skills as the candidate will serve as liaison between multiple departments including Traffic, Ad Sales, Production, Art Dept. and Programming. The candidate must be solutions oriented with a great ability to handle last minute changes that directly impact the day to day operations of the network. The individual must have sound judgment and strong decision-making capabilities. Overview and Responsibilities * Creation of promotional strategy & optimization using reach & frequency benchmarks & knowledge of industry best practices and research insights * Responsible for delivery of all network promotional assets (i.e. cross channel, digital and VOD, barter, off-air buys and sponsorship assets) * Responsible for creating in-program media strategy and rendering of graphic elements (snipes, bugs, hashtags, squeezebacks) * Assist in reporting & post campaign analysis * Troubleshooting technical issues with UCI Master Control and Engineering departments * Attend weekly team meetings where programming initiatives, priorities, and strategies are discussed * Work closely with Management team to ensure that scheduling strategies are implemented, and overall network vision is achieved MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Basic Qualifications * Minimum 3 years of experience in on-air promotions, marketing, planning & broadcast operations * College degree in communications, television production, operations and/or equivalent experience * Excellent computer skills, especially knowledge of Microsoft Office * Ability to work in fast paced environment and under extreme deadline pressure * Strong communication skills both written and oral * Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred Desired Knowledge a plus but not necessary * Knowledge of GripIt! Promotional optimization tool a plus * Knowledge of WideOrbit or other Traffic scheduling systems a plus * Knowledge of broadcast graphics playout system (i.e Miranda Grass Valley, Pixel Power) * Knowledge and experience with file formats and file transfer functions * Basic knowledge of Avid Editing Systems and Media Central/Interplay preferred About Univision Communications Inc.
