Job Title: Assistant Professor of Geography

Location: Mayville State University, Mayville, ND

Compensation: $48,250 - $68,250 - to commensurate with experience

Position Information: Mayville State University welcomes applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Geography beginning August 19, 2024. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level courses of Geography including cultural and physical geography. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester of introductory principles, world regional geography, and a rotation of regional and non-regional elective courses or others depending on qualifications, interests, and departmental needs. Class assignments include face-to-face and online instruction. Summer instruction may be possible. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geography. The minimum qualification for the position is a Master's degree, but candidates with significant progress toward a Ph.D. are preferred.

Minimum qualifications:

• Master's degree in Geography or Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Geography

• Demonstration of clear, written, and oral communication skills

• Demonstration of organizational skills

• Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level

• Commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds

• Commitment to academic advisement of students

• Proficient use of instructional technology

• Proven ability to work in a self-directed environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Geography

• Instructional experience within a higher education setting

• 3 years secondary education teaching experience in Geography
