Assistant Professor For Psychology, Tenure-Track Full Time

Valley City State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Psychology.

The Psychology Program at Valley City State University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in Psychology. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising.

The successful applicant will teach a range of courses which may include, but is not limited to: Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Understanding Statistics, Research Methods, Health Psychology, Cognition and Brain Science, Abnormal Psychology, or Personality Theories. Teaching responsibilities will include 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) in both face-to-face and online environments. Service to the university and engagement in professional development opportunities are also expected.

Minimum Qualifications

• MA or MS in Psychology or related field

• Minimum of 18 graduate credits in Psychology

• Strong desire to teach, knowledge of teaching methods, and excellent communication skills

• Ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidate for doctorate in Psychology or related field with ABD status prior to start date

• Doctorate in Psychology or related field

• Teaching experience in higher education in both face-to-face and online environments

• Course/curriculum development experience

• Demonstrated effective use of technology and other innovative teaching methods in the classroom/online learning environment

Compensation

The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and rank, and typically ranges from $45,000 to $50,000 annually for an assistant professor rank.

This position is a 9-month, full-time position. In some cases, summer duties may be arranged through an additional contract.
