The Department for Computer Systems and Software Engineering at Valley City State University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position.

The primary function of this position is to teach general education computer information systems, cybersecurity, and other courses in the Computer Systems and Software Engineering programs.

Duties begin: August 19, 2024

Job duties may include:

  • Creating and maintaining curriculum.

  • Teaching face to face, hybrid, and synchronous and asynchronous online courses.

  • Assisting in recruiting and advising a diverse student population for departmental programs.

  • Participating in assessment and planning related departmental programs, serving on committees, performing department and university activities, and providing service to the overall university and community.

  • Staying current with course content and other scholarly activities.

  • Advising student organizations and supporting departmental administrators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Information Systems or related field.

  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Information Systems or related field.

  • Teaching and/or training experience, relevant work experience, and involvement in professional organizations.

  • Background in instructional technologies and course development.

  • Demonstrated skills using instructional technology and other course-specific software in the classroom.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, and typically ranges from $46,000 (Instructor) to $58,000 (Assistant Professor) annually. This position is a 9-month, full-time position. In some cases, summer duties may be arranged through an additional contract.
