We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track 9-month appointment at the Assistant level in the area of Emerging Animal Models. We are interested in a colleague focusing on species beyond the traditional model organisms to investigate fundamental questions in biology. These could include but are not limited to investigations of genome to phenome relationships, physiological adaptation, development, or host-microbe interactions at the organism or sub-organism level. We seek a colleague who can establish and maintain a vigorous, interdisciplinary, and externally funded research program that complements existing research in a broadly based biology department. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate through graduate levels at a minority majority institution, including a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, student success, as well as working with a diverse community. Prefer post-doctoral research experience at the start of the appointment. The University of New Mexico is classified a Carnegie Research University with Very High Activity and is located in Albuquerque, a city with a rich cultural heritage situated in the spectacular Southwest.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline at time of application

Preferred Qualifications:

Applications are being accepted for an academic faculty physician, suitable for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Clinician Educator track for a position in our Addiction Psychiatry Division. Clinical assignments will be located at Bernalillo County Metropolitan Assessment and Treatment Services (MATS) and at UNM Health System's outpatient Addiction and Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). The successful candidate can take full advantage of opportunities available in our vibrant and active academic community, and can have an integral role in planning and developing treatment programs that would benefit our community members. As an attending outpatient physician at MATS and ASAP, the person selected will have a voice in developing the program's direction as well as opportunities for multicultural clinical care and scholarly and collaborative research activities across the Health Sciences Center campus. There are many opportunities for professional development in leadership, administration, and education, including mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees in related disciplines. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience and academic background Qualifications Minimum Requirements: * Medical Doctor (or equivalent) degree; * Board certified or board eligible in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine; * Waiver to prescribe buprenorphine; * Eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico; * Must be eligible to work in the United States.
