The Sonography department at St. Catherine University invites applications for an Ranked Faculty position.

The Sonography Department at St. Catherine University is one of only two universities in the Upper Midwest to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in sonography. St. Catherine University specializes in educating health care professionals and has an outstanding reputation in the healthcare community as the metro area's leading healthcare educator. The Sonography Program also has an extensive clinical network where students will gain training in real-world environments. Long term this position requires a completion of a graduate degree. We are happy to consider candidates who have completed a bachelor level degree. In this case, enrollment in a master's degree of study will be required and will have a identified timeline for completion. Tuition remission would be made available upon enrollment in the graduate degree program.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 6.67 course load per year

  • Designs, teaches, evaluates and revises course content to reflect evidence-based practice and most current knowledge in the field

  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance

  • Mentors and advises undergraduate students within the program

  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with clinical sites

  • Monitoring students in the clinical experience at the facilities

  • Completing a minimum of two clinical site visits per academic year

  • Keep an up-to-date log on clinical site visits

  • Keep up-to-date with onboarding the clinical sites

  • Meet with all clinical instructors yearly to update the clinical handbook and any paperwork

  • Participant in scholarly and professional activities to maintain or advance currency in within the fields, including but limited to participating in professional conferences, and or serving on a sonography organization at local, state or national levels.

  • Participate in service opportunities at the school, university, and professional levels.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Accreditation Standards for an Educational Program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • Works with the program director to coordinate annual reports and the accreditation process to ensure all guidelines and standards are met

  • Guides planning and coordinating departmental programs which include evaluation, development, and revision of courses and curricula

  • Work with the PD to plan an advisory board and a clinical meeting annually

  • Promoting the growth of the program and aiding in adding clinical sites for students

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Sonography or related field

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS, Abdomen, OB/GYN)

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its trends

  • Experience working with diverse population

AND EITHER

  • 5 years of clinical experience as a Sonographer

  • Individual with a Bachelor degree will be expected to enroll and finish a Master's degree

OR

  • Masters or Doctoral Degree
  • 2 years of years of clinical experience as a Sonographer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience in an Sonography program

  • Experience developing and implementing simulation activities

  • Experience utilizing a learning management system while teaching (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)

  • Vascular credential
