About the Position
Delaware Valley University invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biology, starting in January 2025. The Biology Department seeks dynamic candidates with expertise in anatomy and physiology to pursue courses in Comparative Physiology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology. Delaware Valley University is committed to undergraduate education therefore candidates will be required to teach introductory courses for science majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to strengthen our Pre-professional curriculum by developing courses in their area of expertise. Candidates should submit a letter of application that includes their teaching interests, any research interests that can be used to further our undergraduate experience, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and the names and contact information for three professional references.
Job Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to Chair of the Biology Department, this faculty member will:
Teach a broad offering of courses in Biology
Be adaptable to teach at various levels within the discipline
Remain current in the field
Recruit and advise students as needed
Post and maintain regular office hours
Serve on faculty committees as assigned or selected
Participate in professional development activities
Attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings, department meetings, and other required meetings
Assist with departmental needs and development including outcomes assessment
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications include:
Ph.D. in Biology, or related discipline
Specialization in Anatomy and Physiology including Human Anatomy and Physiology
Highly Preferred: Cadaver dissection experience
Experience teaching Biology at the undergraduate level
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring
Commitment to ongoing faculty development and scholarship
Evidence of successful scholarship
Experience with online delivery of courses is beneficial
