The Department of Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) seeks a full-time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to function as Behavioral Health Faculty in the Kingsport Residency Program. ETSU Health Family Medicine Kingsport has a 20+ year history of integrating behavioral health providers into primary care. The clinic has established relationships with the ETSU Department of Psychology and The Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health. We regularly train graduate students from these programs to serve as core members of the primary healthcare team.

As a Kingsport faculty member, you will join a team of experienced interprofessional colleagues that incorporates an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual respect amongst medical faculty, residents, behavioral health, pharmacy, nursing, and administrative staff.

This faculty position will develop and implement the behavioral health curriculum in collaboration with the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) consistent with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program requirements for residency training in Family Medicine. This position will provide some clinical services in an outpatient setting. This Faculty position participates in, develops, and implements programs for faculty development of resident instruction in communication skills, patient care, and other areas of expertise.

This position is an ETSU non-tenure, 12-month faculty appointment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or PsyD in Psychology, licensed or license-eligible in TN
  • Experience providing psychological assessment and interventions to individuals and families across the lifespan.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in providing integrative care with a team of physicians and a track record of working with teams of healthcare providers and support staff from different disciplines.

  • Experience providing psychotherapy to a socioeconomically, racially, and ethnically diverse clientele

  • Experience with medical education and interest in delving into innovative ways to improve behavioral health training for physicians

  • Experience in conducting the research consistent with the complexity of issues that arise in primary care and the delivery of care in an integrated fashion.

  • Commitment to DEIA (Diversity Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) as it pertains to primary care and behavioral health access to the underserved population

Salary Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
