Applications are invited for two lecturer positions in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Northern Arizona University. The positions are non-tenure eligible, academic-year appointments beginning on August 19, 2019.

The positions are renewable pending satisfactory job performance, availability of funding, and program needs. The successful applicant for the first position will be expected to teach Biochemistry lecture and labs and General Chemistry lecture. Minimum qualifications include a conferred Ph.D. in Biochemistry or closely related discipline by the start date.

The successful applicant for the second position will be expected to teach Organic Chemistry lecture and labs and General Chemistry lecture. Minimum qualifications include a conferred Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related discipline by the start date. Preferred qualifications for both positions include evidence of teaching effectiveness and/or potential, demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching, ability to work effectively with large classes (120 to 200 students), ability to work well with other faculty and coordinate teaching efforts, and experience working and interacting with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. The salary is $52,000 per academic year.

Northern Arizona University is a 31,000-student institution with its main campus in Flagstaff, a four-season community of about 70,000 at the base of the majestic San Francisco Peaks. The department currently has over 250 undergraduate majors and offers a number of Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in chemistry including two ACS certified degrees. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry moved into a new 120,000 square Science and Health building in July 2015. The department also operates laboratories in the 80,000 square foot Laboratory Sciences Building which was completed in 2008.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Additionally, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.
