The position is located on the Armstrong campus in Savannah, GA., although there may be teaching responsibilities on other campuses.Georgia Southern University is the state's largest and most comprehensive center of higher education south of Atlanta.

The faculty member hired in this position will join a department that is committed to academic excellence, innovative instruction, and collaborative service to the University and community.Position Description.
Reporting to the chair of the Literature Department, the assistant professor will teach three courses per semester (with the occasional possibility of reassigned time for research), including upper-division English classes, cross-listed graduate courses, and literature classes offered in the core curriculum.
Opportunities to teach interdisciplinary courses in areas such as Africana Studies or Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies may also arise.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and publish peer-reviewed scholarship.
Service to the department and University is also required.
The position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.Required Qualifications:
