Position Details

The University of Tampa's John H. Sykes College of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Accounting with an expected start date in August 2025. The hiring decision is subject to proper background and credential checks.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities

We seek candidates who:

  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching accounting, analytics, or information systems leveraging a variety of emerging technologies.

  • Exhibit enthusiasm for engaging with and mentoring students.

  • Are committed to keeping an active research agenda.

  • Will play integral roles in serving the department, college, and broader university community, including engagement with the business and professional community.

  • Embrace and promote the principles of diversity and inclusion.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of an earned doctorate degree, preferably with a concentration in accounting or information systems. Consideration will be given to ABD (All But Dissertation) candidates with the understanding that the degree must be completed by the contract start date in August 2025.

  • Prior work experience in public accounting or industry (at least 2-3 years).

  • Evidence of a deep commitment to teaching and engaging with students.

  • Experience with the application of technology in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited business school.

  • Professional accounting certification(s)

  • Certification in at least one emerging technology (e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, or Access) or experience teaching at least one emerging technology (e.g., with evidence of projects, assignments, etc.)

  5. Materials in support of required and desired qualifications as listed above, for example certifications in one or more technologies or software packages such as Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, or Access.
