The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the New York Presbyterian-Iona School of Health Sciences at Iona University in Bronxville, NY seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders for its undergraduate and ASHA/CAA accredited graduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders to begin in Fall 2024. The department has a growing and thriving program and seeks a faculty member dedicated to academic excellence, student-centeredness, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The position involves teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentorship of student research, curriculum development and general contributions to the success of the department. Along with student-centered teaching, faculty members are expected to pursue an active research agenda and meet college service obligations (department, campus-wide and community).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide student-centered learning environment for in-person academic instruction with virtual supplementary course delivery as needed.

  • Create engaging, challenging and evidence-based classes that promote the knowledge, clinical competencies, and skill development of communication sciences and disorders students.

  • Contribute to the curriculum development of both undergraduate and graduate programs as needed.

  • Actively engage in scholarship to advance and disseminate knowledge as required by the CAA accreditation standards and Iona University.

  • Serve as a research mentor for students who wish to participate in research

  • Remain current with clinical practices and evidence that support content area expertise and professional growth.

  • Engage in service that advances the mission and goals of the department, school, and university, including committee work.

  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director, Department Chair and the Dean, New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences.

  • Engage in academic mentorship with students as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field (ABD candidates may apply).

  • Must hold Certificate of Clinical Competency through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

  • Minimum of three years of clinical practice

  • Previous teaching experience at college level

  • Applicants should have academic and clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas: adult language, voice disorders, fluency are preferred but other areas of research and clinical focus will be considered.
