Welcome to Walton Elementary School

Responsive Classroom Walton is a Responsive Classroom School. Our school operates under the belief that core values must be taught within the context of a democratic classroom in order for children to learn appropriate social behaviors. What does that mean for your child? Your child will participate in morning meeting, set classroom agreements, identify hopes and dreams for the year, use the take-a-break chair and buddy teacher to help reinforce good choices, and be responsible for themselves, others and the school. You will hear more from your child's classroom teacher about individual classroom practices at the beginning of the year. If you have questions, please feel free to call Mr. Davis. Team Structures-Our school is organized in grade-level cluster teams. (K-1, 2/3, 4/5/6) Teachers on each team work together to plan and implement curriculum and instruction. Students on grade level teams eat and attend recess together. Teams also organize field trips and other special activities together. A teacher on each team, the team leader, serves to coordinate team events and oversees/ advises about student issues that arise. Parent Involvement- As a parent, you hold the key to your child's success in school. Being actively involved in your child's classroom and school will help your child in immeasurable ways. Please talk with your child's teacher about how you can become involved in our school. Each classroom has unique needs and we are always in need of extra hands and energy. It is guaranteed to help us and we are sure you will have a great time! The benefit to your child will be immeasurable. PTO-Walton's Parent-Teacher Organization is an active and important part of our school program. Monthly meetings are held in the community room at the school. Free daycare is provided at most meetings. As a parent of a child at Walton School, you are already a member of the PTO! We hope that you will participate in one or more of the many activities that support our school, whether you attend meetings, volunteer to help an activity or help your child participate in a fundraiser. Watch for more information and meeting times in the Walton Word, our monthly school newsletter.
