JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The assistant principal serves as a member of the administrative team at the middle school to develop and implement the leadership responsibility of promoting the educational development of each student.

REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal

SUPERVISES: Staff, students and programs as

designated by the Principal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Have primary responsibility for the overall administration of the Middle School

• Be responsible for the instructional support, observation and evaluation of the staff.

• Assist in the coordination of the staff development activities and budget.

• Serve as curriculum coordinator working with the principal and faculty in all areas of curriculum development.

• Assist in the development and implementation plans for continuous assessment of present instructional program for the Middle School.

• Work with the principal, faculty, guidance, and community in planning and implementing new and innovative programs advocated by research on effective instruction.

• Coordinate curriculum integration.

• Assist in the scheduling of students.

• Assist middle school principal with student management and discipline.

• Assist with the planning and incorporation of technology in the instructional program.

• Assist the middle school principal in working with business and civic partners.

• Assist principal, faculty and district level staff to develop, implement and evaluate grants.

• Assist in promoting positive home/school/community relations for both the middle school.

• Contribute to positive public relations for both the middle school.

• Assist in implementation of shared decision-making at both the middle school.

• Assist in the implementation of the Hertford County Five-Year Plan.

• Participate as a member of the district's curriculum council.

• Other duties as assigned by the middle school principal to assist in the continued success of the students
