The Placer Union High School District is seeking an educational leader to serve as the Assistant Principal of Placer High School. This position will also provide administrative support for our Alternative Education program.

Placer High School is the District's first high school with the year 1897 marking the beginning. Originally named Auburn High School, the first graduating class in 1900 consisted of 10 students. Five of them went on to attend the University of California.

Placer High School's history and rich traditions are evident on the campus. The attendance boundaries are Auburn and the surrounding areas. Presently, Placer's enrollment is approximately 1,250 students.

Placer offers a wide variety of activities for student engagement. These include band, FFA, student government, and career technical classes. Additionally, Placer High School offers a variety of clubs to give students the opportunity to socialize with other students with common interests and talents.

Most clubs meet once a month to plan, organize and develop club activities, events and/or community improvements and partnerships. Clubs are free and open to students and there is no limit to the number of clubs a student can join. Placer High School has over 700 student athletes participating in at least one of the many sports offered.

The District encompasses 980 square miles, primarily along the I-80 corridor, stretching from the suburbs of Sacramento eastward to Emigrant Gap. There are three other comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school that operates as a "Big Picture" program, an independent study charter high school that provides a traditional and asynchronous program and an adult education program.

Requirements / Qualifications

Appropriate Administrative Services Credential

Desired Qualifications: - At least three years of experience at the high school level demonstrating increased levels of responsibility and effective leadership.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in building relationships throughout the school community

  • Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities with proven experience in the implementation and ongoing development of PLC's at a school site

  • Experience with the development and delivery of online classes.

  • Strong experience as an instructional leader at the school site level with an emphasis on coaching teachers in the development of quality instructional practices. The Placer Union High School District is an equal opportunity employer.
