Salary: $87,541 - $109,338 (2019-2020 salary schedule)

Description:

Fountain-Fort Carson School District #8 has anticipated an Assistant Principal position for the 2020-2021 school year at both Carson Middle School and Fountain Middle School.

Job Function:

Assist principal in supervision of employees including serving as an instructional leader assigning and directing work, interviewing, evaluating performance, disciplining and resolving issues. Provide leadership for students by overseeing daily building operation, identifying instructional needs and solutions, and coordinating student activities and programs. Monitor professional development in classrooms and grade level/content area meeting in accordance to the school and district goals and objectives. Implement and monitor school-wide behavioral expectations and policies including monitoring attendance trends and overseeing truancy interventions; address safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents, investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting proper authorities and conforming to legal requirements and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years secondary teaching experience.

  • Possess a MA Degree or higher.

  • A valid Type D Colorado Certificate/Principal's license or be eligible for same at the time of employment.

  • Knowledge of standardized testing processes.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Administrative experience preferred.

  • Special Education experience preferred.

The district has two middle schools. Fountain Middle School is located in the city of Fountain and Carson Middle School is located on Fort Carson. The district's two high schools, Fountain-Fort Carson High School and Welte Education Center, are both located in the city of Fountain.

To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by promoting their sense of self and by treating any psychological or mental health problems. 2. Identify psychologically, educationally, and socially exceptional children and help make recommendations for placement. 3. Conduct case conference and in-service programs. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Use formal and informal assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs. Implement interventions and programs with students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment. 2. Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations. Identify and assess the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. 3. Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the child's educational plan. 4. Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g. individual counseling, group counseling, classroom presentations, co-teaching in general education settings, in-services to staff/parents, etc.) as needed. 5. Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child's program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home. 6. Deliver a planned and coordinated program of psychological services. 7. Develop and maintain appropriate records and reports related to students and interventions/programs. 8. Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs. 9. Participate in professional organizations, continuing education, and in-services to continually improve professional knowledge and skill 10. Development and monitoring of behavior plans and implementation of positive behavior support strategies. Salary: Certified salary is based upon degree status and years of experience. Horizontal advancements are based upon "Graduate" level credits and staff development hours obtained after the last degree was conferred.
