Qualifications
The Assistant Principal of the High School shall either hold an administrator's credential or be nearing completion of a program of studies leading to an administrator's credential. He shall have the personal and professional qualities necessary to execute the responsibilities of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Disciplin
Responsible for all routine school discipline.
Assist Principal with supervision of classroom discipline.
Coordinate and administer campus and activity supervision.
Coordinate bus discipline.
Work with probation and police departments.
Confer with students, parents, and teachers, regarding routine discipline.
Assist Principal with the supervision of activities relating to transfer, expulsion, suspension, continuation school, and exclusion of students.
Coordinate and supervise after-school detention.
Attendance
Responsible for all attendance.
Administer school attendance policy.
Responsible for SARB (Student Attendance Referral Board) referrals.
Supervise Attendance Secretary/Assistant Principal's Secretary.
Work with Principal in making home visits and contacts.
Supervise activity eligibility on attendance.
Student Activities
Responsible for the student activity program.
Be advisor for Student Council.
Supervise all dances.
Develop the activity calendar.
Supervise assemblies and rallies and assign faculty to assist with supervision.
Supervise club and class activities.
Supervise all elections.
Assist in the supervision of the cheerleader/school spirit squad.
Assist Principal with supervision of extra-curricular student activities.
Develop and supervise lunch time intramural program.
Coordinate the selection of counselors for 6th grade science camp.
Counseling
Work as a member of the counseling team.
Assist the counselor with college, vocational, and course counseling as needed.
Conduct personal counseling.
Assist in the registration of new students.
Assist counselor in making program changes.
Assist with testing programs - Career Day, Senior Awards, college visitations, incoming 9th grade parents meeting, scholarships, freshman orientation program.
Serve with the Principal as the administrative member of the I.E.P. (Independent Education Program) team for special education.
Assist principal in the development and coordination of the advanced placement program.
G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education)
Responsible for the G.A.T.E. program.
Assist in the selection of students.
Assist in program evaluation.
Program development and teacher supervision.
Develop and coordinate the G.A.T.E. program budget.
Other Duties As Assigned
Supervise the training and evaluation of Instructional Aides who work in the office.
Assist in the evaluation of faculty.
Work with district staff to coordinate, train, and develop the use of County Computer System including reports, grading, transcripts, etc.
Serve as a leading influence in developing a positive school climate and a clean campus.
Assist in the coordination of substance/alcohol abuse program at the high school.
Serve on school and district committees as assigned.
