Assistant Principal

Job Description:

Regional School District #16 is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, student-centered instructional leader to be the Assistant Principal at Long River Middle School in Prospect, CT.

The successful candidate will:

• Possess a strong background in high school teaching and curriculum,
• Have some experience with coordinating school-wide student activities,
• Have the ability to foster a positive student/parent/staff relationship,
• Demonstrate effective communication skills in written and oral language,
• Assist the principal in the hiring of new staff,
• Administer fair and consistent practices regarding student discipline and be able to use good judgment and a democratic approach in arriving at decisions,
• Have knowledge of budgetary and building management,
• Have administrative experience with collaborative leadership style (preferred, but not mandatory),
• Have experience developing a school-wide student academic schedule (preferred, but not mandatory),
• Be knowledgeable in school law,
• Have an understanding of Special Education/504 rules.

Salary:

Contractual, based upon degree status. This is a full-time 10-month position.
