HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Overview: Weston High School, a top-performing institution dedicated to fostering academic excellence and personal growth, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a passion for creating a positive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and School Climate:
Assist in maintaining a positive school climate through the implementation of restorative school practices.
Support and model a culture of respect, collaboration, and high expectations among students and staff.
Participate in the development and implementation of school policies, goals, and objectives.
Facilitate PPT & 504 meetings
Behavioral Interventions:
Implement appropriate interventions that promote student growth and maintain school safety.
Use restorative practices to address behavioral issues, focusing on repairing harm and restoring relationships.
Monitor and manage student behavior, ensuring consistency and fairness in the application of school policies.
Academic and Operational Support:
Collaborate with the Principal and other administrative staff to support the school's academic programs.
Assist in overseeing daily school operations, scheduling, attendance, and event coordination.
Utilize PowerSchool for student information, including attendance, grades, and communication.
Facilitate Student Assistance Team meetings to support student intervention practices
Communication and Relationships:
Foster strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader school community.
Maintain open lines of communication, addressing concerns and providing support as needed.
Organize and participate in school events, meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.
Professional Learning:
Stay current with educational trends and best practices.
Support a culture of visible learning and thinking in classrooms
Support professional growth of teachers and staff through coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Supervision & Support:
Curriculum & Instruction Leaders, teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals, building service employees
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Valid Connecticut Administrative Certification (092).
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
Demonstrated knowledge of restorative school practices and their implementation in a school setting.
Strong understanding of school climate and its impact on student achievement and well-being.
Proficiency in PowerSchool or similar systems.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle disciplinary issues with fairness and sensitivity.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive school environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as an assistant principal or a similar role.
Familiarity with current educational technology and data analysis tools.
