Job Description:
Ledyard Public Schools is seeking an Elementary School Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Assistant Principal, under the general supervision of the Principal, provides leadership and support for the school community with the goal of providing excellent outcomes for all students. In collaboration with the Principal, this role is responsible to support annual school goals, identify action steps and strategies for achieving those goals, and develop criteria for evaluating the accomplishments of the established goals.
Responsibilities:
Fosters a culture and climate that supports the emotional well-being of students and staff
Provides visible administrative leadership
Functions as the Principal's designee when required
Is an informed, decisive problem-solver
Provides instructional leadership and assists in the development of curriculum and instructional programs
Champions equitable access and opportunities
Assesses student performance, using data to improve teaching and learning, and uses technology as a tool for school management and learning
Assists in the direction and supervision of professional, paraprofessional and support staff in the school
Evaluates staff and provides timely and meaningful feedback and professional development opportunities
Ensures excellent academic programs with high expectations for all students
Communicates and partners with teachers, parents, and community members
Qualifications:
Connecticut certification as an Intermediate Administrator Endorsement (092) required.
Master's Degree
At least 2 years of experience with leadership responsibilities preferred
Minimum of 5 years of elementary teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong collaborative and leadership skills
A record of superior performance as an educator and evidence of successful leadership in an elementary school setting
Substantial knowledge of elementary curriculum, assessment, and instruction
Experience with students who have significant behavioral needs and programming.
Deep understanding of the special education process
Knowledge of evidence-based decision-making protocols
Strong public presentation and writing skills
Skilled in staff evaluation and providing timely and meaningful feedback
Record of successful communication and partnership with teachers, parents, and community members
Enthusiasm for learning
