Job Description:

The Assistant Principal, Charter Academy provides the leadership necessary to assist the Principal to develop and administer the Pensacola State College Charter Academy, a charter high school operated by Pensacola State College. Functions on the Principal's behalf during his or her absence from the school.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: assisting with managing day-to-day operations, developing course schedules, supervising staff members, managing the budget, advising students, reviewing and updating curriculum, and developing assessment activities. Reports to the Principal, Charter Academy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a related field.

Two (2) years of experience in administrative, leadership positions in K-12 education management, preferably in a secondary environment, are also required. Florida certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, Administration, or Administration and Supervision is required within the first year of employment if not currently possessed. Successful results of a criminal background check.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Personnel who are hired to fill positions in a charter school are also required to meet employment eligibility requirements per §1012.32(2)(b)(1). Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer Florida certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, Administration, or Administration and Supervision upon submission of application. Experience in budgeting, full-time equivalent (FTE) data collection, charter school funding and operations, and secondary/postsecondary fiscal procedures and processes preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of the requirements listed above.

SALARY:

$65,000-$68,000 for a 12-month contract with a master's degree and appropriate certification.

$68,000-$71,000 for a 12-month contract with a doctoral degree and appropriate certification.
