Purpose: To provide a safe work environment through proper training and communication. The Printing Assistant Operator will assist in the set-up and operation of the press while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment for maximum press efficiency production quality.
Dimensions: This position is responsible for working closely with a Press Operator to ensure customer quality expectations are being met.
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures while ensuring all team members work within the safety guidelines as established by Berry Global.
Complete safety orientation and forklift certification training.
Assist in the set-up and operation of the press.
Have a basic understanding of our product, customer specifications and visual inspection requirements.
Learn to accurately test key print properties.
Basic computer skills.
Demonstrate basic math skills, both metric and standard.
Understanding of Quality Windows and accurate data entry.
Responsible for ensuring all finished product is within customer specifications.
Demonstrate trouble-shooting skills.
Understand proper record keeping procedures
Understanding of press terminology.
Understanding the use and functionality of Shop Floor for material handling.
Assisting maintenance whenever necessary or required.
Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret Job Discrete Routing Sheets and how to identify raw materials by part numbers.
Understanding the operations and functions of press control panels.
Ensure the training of new hires.
Understand usage of MSDS sheets.
Understand SOC sheets and how to properly fill out.
Ensure proper housekeeping of the press and adjacent areas.
Ensure proper solvent and ink handling procedures are implemented and followed.
Ensure proper hazardous waste handling procedures are implemented and followed.
Effectively communicate and interact professionally with all people in the work environment.
Education: H.S. Diploma or GED
Experience: Manufacturing experience preferred.
Work is performed in a plant environment with frequent contact with others. Requires prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping and stretching, manual dexterity, the ability to distinguish letters, the ability to distinguish between colors, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and the use of equipment.
Pre-employment Aptitude Testing: Must be able to pass all sections of the validated pre-employment aptitude test.
