Summer is just around the corner! Join our Parks and Recreation team as an Assistant Pool Manager at one of four outdoor pool facilities.
Assists Pool Manager with day-to-day pool operations.
Ensures patron safety and acts as a manager in Pool Manager's absence.
Provides customer service to pool patrons.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Essential Functions
Provides customer service to pool patrons. Assists with daily admissions and lesson administration. Enforces pool rules. Assists with assigning instructors to lessons and supervising programs at their site. Supervises seasonal lifeguards and swim instructors. Provides input to the manager regarding staff evaluations. Performs cashiering duties and creates daily deposits. Uses cash register or a computer with recreation software. (80%)
Performs general pool maintenance and maintains proper chemical balance in pool. Uses a test kit to check chemical balance of pool. Cleans hair catchers, backwashes the filtration system, and vacuums the pool for debris. Maintains a safe pool, deck area, and office. Attends training to learn proper pool maintenance and safety techniques. (20%)
Supervisory responsibilities: Employees in this position are authorized to recommend and/or effect the full range of duties (with appropriate managerial review), including hiring, performance evaluations, transferring, promoting, assigning of significant duties, rewarding, disciplining and terminating employment; exercise independent judgment to direct others work and have the authority to take corrective action; and, utilize people skills to communicate, motivate and direct or oversee a person, group, department, or organization. ()

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year of experience working at a pool.
Level of Knowledge; Working knowledge of supervisory practices and principles; pool maintenance and safety; lifeguard practices and procedures; customer service techniques; and cash handling procedures.
Abilities; Ability to deal with the public, co-workers and supervisors in a friendly and tactful manner; interpret and explain policies and procedures; ensure pool safety procedures are being followed; maintain pool facilities; perform basic bookkeeping tasks; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Two years experience in pool facility and personnel management.
Licensing And Other Requirements
American Red Cross certification or YMCA Lifeguard Certification accepted. Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds.
The noise level is frequently moderate and occasionally very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards and work in/at heights.
Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
