WHAT YOU'LL DO:

This position will assist in managing plant operations at the Rosemount facility that includes: batching, plant maintenance, paperwork processing, inventory control, plant cleanup, plant mixer cleaning, and other duties as directed by management. The position is responsible for performing quality control testing on aggregates by testing the moisture content, minus #200 sieve and gradation. After concrete is produced at the facility, quality control testing will be performed by testing the concrete temperature, slump, unit weight, air content and yield to ensure it meets the project specifications and customer needs. Assist in solving issues of quality, placement techniques and finishing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Production of ready mixed concrete within specifications, and within parameters of maximum plant production capacity per company and manufacturers specifications.

• Communications with dispatch with regards to shipping, loading orders and changes.

• Order raw materials such as cement, fly ash, chemical admixtures, and aggregates through coordination with the Materials Manager.

• Calibrate production equipment

• Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance

• Perform QC tests such as temperature, slump, unit weight, air content, set time, water/cement ratio and casting strength specimens

• Use test results to make mix adjustments

• Record and report test results to your supervisor, batch personnel, dispatch and the customer

• Required to keep a "daily journal" and fill out "Cemstone sample reports" for each sample taken

• Responsible for maintaining your own testing equipment, including cleaning and proper calibration

• Perform end of day cleanup at plant including cleaning inside central mix drum.

• Perform various plant maintenance tasks such as greasing, adjustments, cleaning bag houses and venting systems, shoveling and plant system checks.

• Oversees drivers as to ensure concrete production consistent with company goals.

• Color System Maintenance and Inventory control - when at Facility.

• Wheel Loader Operations as necessary.

• Meet MNDOT specifications as required by engineering services and have ACI field and plant 1 certifications, and MNDOT Agg 1 and Plant 1.

• Assist in environmental reporting and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Take direction, instruction and guidance from supervision and management.

• Apply knowledge and learning capabilities of mechanical functions of various components and equipment including electrical, pneumatics, compressed air, mixer trucks, batch plant equipment, water systems and computerized batching equipment.

• Handle multiple tasks at one time, i.e. batching, talking on phone or radio, operating materials distribution, reading orders.

• Operate computerized batching equipment and be MS Windows proficient subject to proficiency test.

• Have initiative and leadership characteristics.

• Work with customers, drivers, and other company personnel in a professional manner.

• Handle cash within the companies audit control system.
