Qualifications and Detail about the Position
Broad Function
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for working with and supporting the Plant Manger to oversee the operations and personnel at the ATC plant. This position is responsible for meeting all production and quality goals while enforcing plant safety protocols and production rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock's Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business.
At the direction of the Plant Manager executes daily operations of the plant to ensure that all production, quality, and safety goals are met.
Plan, schedule, coordinate and / or monitor products through the complete production cycle based on customer orders and delivery requirements for the production floor.
Work from engineering plans and production specifications to establish production schedules, labor loading, and capacity requirements.
Assist with coordinating production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedule.
Participate in hiring, promoting, training, and developing direct reports.
Perform plant inspections including walking through the plant on each shift while looking and listening for equipment and process problems.
Hold self and others accountable for safe operations, wear required PPE, and actively participate in regular safety training and testing.
Perform quality-control tests and log accurate results according to established procedures.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of activities, shutdowns, abnormal operations, troubleshooting, and problem areas.
Assist the Plant Manager with labor and material resource planning.
Monitor production process and recommend adjustment of schedules as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe plant, meeting all company, state, and federal requirements.
Assists the Plant Manager in selection and maintenance of equipment.
At the direction of the Plant Manager will confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping as needed.
Assist with shift production schedules.
Provides support in plant meetings and conducts plant meetings in the Plant Manager's absence.
Works with Plant Manager to interpret company policies to plant operators and enforce safety regulations.
Investigate quality and customer incidents as directed and takes action to prevent recurrence.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Make or recommend revisions to planned production schedules as necessary when schedules cannot be met.
At the direction of the Plant Manager reschedule rework, unfinished parts, and assemblies, new production releases, and special orders.
Establish effective communication with various departments as necessary to meet production requirements.
Routinely monitor 'scheduled' versus 'actual' data for labor and material transactions to ensure a smooth workflow.
Continuously monitor resource and operator capacity, and provide recommendations to the Plant Manager, such as the need for overtime allocation, new machine purchases, etc.
At the direction of the Plan Manager perform ad hoc data analysis and create concise reports to reflect inventory accuracy, schedule and forecast adherence and other metrics as needed to evaluate efficacy of the strategy.
The Assistant Plant Manager would stand in for the plant manager when Plant Manager is out of office.

Stand or walk for long periods of time.

Ability to read and interpret job specifications and design drawings.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education & Experience
Associate degree, vocational technical diploma, or equivalent technical experience (required).
Engineering degree preferred.
3 years of experience working in a process production environment with understanding of process flow.
Experience working with a union workforce preferred.
ISO and OSHA experience / knowledge, a plus.
