Mathematics Education Assistant or Associate Professor Tenure Track/Tenure Eligible The School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position in Mathematics Education starting July 1, 2019.

This is a full-time, 9-month tenure-line or tenured appointment depending on rank at the time of hire.

The School of Education is among the best in the nation and boasts a long and distinguished history of research on teaching and learning in the content areas.

Responsibilities:
Candidates will carry out a research program, actively pursue external funding, and contribute to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and instructional efforts across the School of Education and campus. Candidates also will (a) develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics education and related areas delivered in face-to-face, online, and/or blended formats; (b) contribute to the ongoing development of undergraduate and graduate programs; (c ) actively recruit and supervise graduate students; (d) support strategic initiatives across the School and campus; and (e) provide leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels.

Qualifications: Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must have an earned doctorate at the time of hire. Candidates at the Associate Professor level must have an established record of research, funding, teaching, and service to meet the Universitys requirements for tenure and appointment at the rank. Depending on rank, candidates will demonstrate a research program that will lead to an outstanding and sustained record of scholarship and securing external funding or will already have such an established record.

Candidates will have strong potential, or an established record, of outstanding university teaching and guiding students through dissertation research projects. Strong preference will be given to candidates with a scholarly and research focus on the teaching of mathematics and/or mathematics teacher education. A focus on the applications of cutting edge-digital ecologies to the teaching and learning of mathematics, and/or mathematics teacher education is preferred.

Salary and Starting Date: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. The proposed starting date is July 1, 2019.

The UNC HIV Cure Center is a partnership between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and GlaxoSmithKline. The UNC HIV Cure Center, directed by Dr. David Margolis, is focused on the discovery, development, and implementation of new treatments to allow durable treatment-free remission of HIV infection (cure). This incredibly unique public-private partnership is redefining the traditional way of conducting research and is creating a new model to seek the breakthroughs needed to tackle this extraordinarily challenging global health issue. This faculty position is part of a partnership between the UNC School of Medicine and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine is recruiting for a Tenure Track Faculty member, open rank. At the Assistant Professor rank the ability to establish a successful independent research program is required. At the Associate/Full Professor rank applicants are expected to have extramural funding and an established national reputation as a leader in their field. All applicants must have a research focus in the study of HIV persistence (latency mechanisms, immune response, drug development, viral clearance, novel assays, approaches, or therapeutics). The applicants research may employ a wide variety of experimental approaches including a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques and in vitro and in vivo models. At the Assistant Professor rank the ability to establish a successful independent research program is expected. At the Associate/Full Professor level applicants are expected to have extramural funding and an established national reputation as a leader in their field. A research focus in the study of HIV persistence (latency mechanisms, immune response, drug development, viral clearance, novel assays, approaches, or therapeutics). Technical skills including a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques and in vitro and in vivo models. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
