Anticipated start date is August 2025. We seek applicants who will prepare holistic, professional nurses to address the evolving health care needs of the populations they serve and provide quality, person-centered care. About CCSU's Nursing Department
The Department of Nursing, in accord with the University, believes that the primary goal of the nursing faculty is to empower students to attain the highest standards of professional achievement, public service, and personal development. The goal of nursing is to assist individuals, families, and groups to achieve optimal levels of health or wellness. The Nursing Faculty believe that, in a dynamic society, education for membership in a profession includes the development not only of expertise in a field but also of social awareness. In contemporary times, this social awareness includes the development of an increasingly global perspective. The professional nurse with a liberal education thinks critically, provides care that is interpersonally and therapeutically competent, and makes socially significant and personally satisfying contributions to society.
Position Profile
The successful candidate will teach across the curriculum with specialization experience in adult health nursing. Faculty are assigned a 12-credit hour load each semester. Credit may be earned through teaching courses in the undergraduate BSN, the RN to BSN, and/or MSN programs. Additional credit may include direct and indirect clinical supervision, and laboratory instruction. In addition to classroom and clinical teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to engage in scholarship/creative activity, productive service and professional activity.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Assistant Professor:
Required Qualifications
(1) An earned Doctorate (PhD, EdD or DNP); or A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and completion of all doctoral coursework, all but dissertation (ABD). Candidate must complete doctorate degree within three (3) years of hire.
(2) Experience teaching in a baccalaureate nursing program in an accredited college or university for at least one year.
(3) Licensed in the State of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or eligibility.
(4) Currently practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
(5) Meaningful scholarship/creative activity relevant to nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
(1) Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD or DNP)
(2) Certification in a clinical nursing specialty
(3) Professional publications relevant to nursing
(4) Experience with high fidelity simulation
(5) Recent (within 1 year) experience as a clinical instructor in acute care and/or community health setting
(6) Experience working with diverse student populations\
Candidates who possess a Doctorate degree plus at least five (5) years of full-time teaching in an accredited college or university in the rank of Associate Professor or above or its comparable equivalent may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the for 2025-2026.
