Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina College of Nursing is seeking nurse scientists specializing in artificial intelligence, cancer research, or chronic illness. These positions are on-site appointments.
USC Nursing has three research centers: Cancer Survivorship Research Center; ACORN Center: Advancing Chronic Care Outcomes through Research & Innovation; and Perinatal, Pediatric and Family Research Center.
We have a newly established Biobehavioral Health & Nursing Science Department and active plans for biobehavioral research suites which will encompass a wet lab, clinical research space, Community Collaboratory, and innovation rooms with expected completion in 2025.
The college has a solid research infrastructure supported by the associate dean for research, assistant dean for research, two biostatisticians, and pre- and post-award staff.
USC Nursing is currently ranked in the top 30 in NIH funding and anticipates that these new positions will further increase NIH and other federal funding and positively impact the health of the communities we serve.
Required Education and Experience
Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD).
Candidates at the Assistant Professor level are expected to have:
Doctoral degree and post-doctoral research experience that prepares them for a career as an independent researcher.
Commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications;
A track record for, or show the potential to receive external funding;
Candidates at the Associate Professor level are expected to have:
A record of externally funded research grants and peer-reviewed publications,
Commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications;
Scientific partnerships with junior and senior research faculty,
PhD-level student teaching and mentorship.
The selected candidates will join the College of Nursing's research team of junior and senior- level researchers with established research programs.
