The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Business welcomes applications for a tenure track, full-time position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Management. Teaching areas of need are Business Communications and Strategic Management. Provide service to the college in faculty role as Chair of the college's Assurance of Learning committee. Applicants with experience in Assurance of Learning processes will be given priority consideration.
Salary Range
$100,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
We seek individuals with a passion for teaching, a desire to engage students in the classroom,
and enthusiasm for producing high-quality research. Teaching undergraduate and graduate
classes on campus and online. Undergraduate classes on campus in the college typically range
from 12-45 students. The University sponsors a range of developmental activities for faculty,
supported by the Heimmermann Center for Engaged Teaching. There are additional
opportunities for summer teaching assignments.
Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members include teaching and service activities as
assigned.
Tenure track position on a 9-month contract.
Maintain AACSB Scholarly Academic faculty qualifications by UTPB standards through
sustained professional and/or research engagement activities.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
Face-to-face and online teaching interactions through a regular schedule of attendance
on campus for a minimum of four days a week.
Teach 18 credit hours per contract year.
Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the college (for SACSCOC and
AACSB accreditations).
Use approved assessment rubrics in assessing student learning.
Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.
Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and use appropriate
technology.
Student course evaluations are to be completed in each course.
Abide by deadlines and processes for submitting grades.
Advise students and provide individual help to students during weekly office hours.
Participate in course revisions and curriculum development, as assigned.
Work with other faculty and staff to advance the program.
Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings.
Attend convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community
meetings.
Required Qualifications
1.Doctorate in Management with an emphasis in Strategic Management or a closely
related field.
2.Scholarly Academic (terminal degree in a field related to teaching area and qualifying
activities) status by the standards of the University of Texas Permian Basin College of
Business.
Preferred Qualifications
1.Doctorate in Management from an AACSB-accredited program.
2.Doctorate is expected to be earned before start of tenure-track appointment.
3.College-level teaching experience, which may include teaching as a graduate student.
4.Experience or training in educational assessment and Assurance of Learning processes.
5.Demonstrated work history providing evidence of excellent written and oral
communication skills.

The College of Business offers the following AACSB-accredited programs: BBA in Accounting, Finance, Energy Land Management, Management, and Marketing; Master in Business Administration, Master of Professional Accountancy, MS in Finance, and MS in Energy Business. The College enrolls about 2000 students and has twenty-one full-time faculty members. The College is home to the Roden Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Energy Industry Analysis. Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.
Standard Working Conditions
1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
