Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management or other relevant business area is required. Foreign equivalent degree accepted.

  • As an educational institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), BYU-Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. § 60-1.5 (a)(6). To be eligible for employment, applicants who are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Church's Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching requirement is typically 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in some (but not necessarily all) of the following subject areas/courses:

  • Lodging Operations: Guest services, reservations, housekeeping, sales & marketing, revenue management (RevPAR, ADR, pricing, distribution, PMS, STR, etc.).

  • Financial Management: Financial decision-making applied to the HTM industry, including revenue management, key performance metrics (RevPAR, ADR, occupancy rates, STR reports), and mitigating risks (e.g., currency fluctuations, seasonality, economic downturns, etc.).

  • Restaurant Operations: Concept building, performance metrics, kitchen management.

  • Business Management, Leadership, Introduction to Business

  • Scholarship, creative endeavor, ongoing professional development, and university service are required.

  • BYU-Hawaii's primary focus is undergraduate learning and teaching. The individual should be fully committed to the university's mission (https://about.byuh.edu/mission.html) and learning framework (https://clt.byuh.edu/framework-for-learning).

Benefits:

  • Salary range: 109K to 120K.

  • Housing stipend.

  • A relocation expense package is provided.

  • Annually renewable contract eligible for Continuing Faculty Status (BYU-H equivalent of "tenure-track").

  • Standard BYU-Hawaii benefits package for regular full-time employees.
