Position Summary

  • The official title of either Assistant or Associate Director of Title IX Compliance will be determined by the incumbent's level of experience.

Under the leadership of the Executive Director of Title IX Compliance, the Assistant or Associate Director of Title IX Compliance will assist with case management, supportive measure coordination, training, programs, and reporting as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and other relevant federal and state laws and regulations. The Assistant or Associate Director of Title IX Compliance will play a vital role in the University's coordinated response, prevention, and education initiatives as it relates to Title IX and other University policy.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Processes and assists Complainants with the filing of Title IX and other sex-based discrimination complaints, to include guiding individuals to appropriate campus and community resources and informing them of the University's process for responding to and otherwise handling complaints.

  • Demonstrates ability to handle complex situations, including responding to parties in a sensitive and informed manner, ably tracking multiple cases, meeting various deadlines, maintaining neutrality, working well under stress, and performing duties impartially and confidentially.

  • Develops and implements a case management plan for each reported incident and investigation.

  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews datum/records pertaining to trainings, reports/complaints, investigations, findings and other applicable datum/records.

  • Conducts prompt, thorough, fair and impartial investigations of complaints, to include collecting evidence, sending notices to the participants, interviewing participants, drafting reports, and other investigative duties.

  • Provides appropriate communications and notifications to the party or parties, including the commencement of an investigation and other processes.

  • Protects the integrity and privacy of the parties throughout the investigation.

  • Coordinates Informal Resolutions.

  • Participates in investigation team or work group meetings; prepares and assembles materials for use at such meetings, such as case status updates, agendas, and meeting minutes.

  • Prepares comprehensive investigation reports and summaries of all findings based upon an analysis of all relevant evidence gathered during the investigation.

  • Identifies and analyzes trends or patterns in case data and prepares regularly scheduled, detailed reports; uses data to locate and define new process improvement opportunities; works with management to establish and maintain investigation procedures.

  • Develops and provides education, training, and outreach programming related to Title IX and other relevant University policy.

  • Prepares and oversees the administration of supportive measures.

  • Prepares and disseminates educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of their rights and responsibilities under Title IX, state law and University policy.

  • Keeps up with policy and procedural changes that will affect the scope or practice of case management, as well as complete training and professional development related to Title IX and applicable laws, policies and regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required, Master's preferred.

  • 5 years of related experience and/or training to the essential duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient skill in writing concise, analytical and cogent reports or papers.

  • Experience should demonstrate a clear understanding of Title IX and related compliance issues as well as high-level analytical skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care and of its application in the interviewing of involved parties.

Unusual Working Conditions

May require evening and/or weekend hours.
