Overview

Assists the Nurse Manager in the overall management of the clinical and administrative activities of the designated unit and department that they support in order to ensure patients the provision of quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates active,productive participation in or leadership of unit/ department based or hospital-wide teams to represent nursing and improve patient outcomes

  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and supervision of nursing personnel. Assists in staff performance development and evaluation processes, delivering recognition and reinforcement in a timely fashion, and assures accountability for professional nursing practice.

  • Evaluate programs/patient care activities. Assign responsibility and delegate authority that will facilitate safe, effective/efficient care for the patient. Supervise and perform (as needed) nursing care. Assure patient safety.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and assure documentation of patient care to meets criteria according to regulatory, state and federal health standards.

  • Accountable for the review of policies, procedures and protocols essential to the units supervised. Review/revise these in collaboration with the Director, the nursing staff and the professional staff.

  • Oversee nursing orientation programs and educational sessions as needed. Coordinate in-service programs for medical equipment on the unit.

Qualifications
4 year / Bachelor's Degree: BSN required or in process; must complete within applicable timelines (Required)Other Education: CAP Level III (Required)

PA Registered Nurse License (Required)

BLS CERTIFICATION (Required)If applicable as per the department assinged; ACLS CERTIFICATION (Required)


Minimum of 3 years of experience as an RN at a Progressive Care Level
1-3 Years Professional Nursing experience demonstarting competence and leadership potential as a staff nurse. Evidence of continuing education (Required)1-3 Years Nursing Management (Preferred)
